This review shows how we installed the KS pipes and canister system in a Carden 40% Extra 330S.

Many thanks to John Mitchell of Florida for sharing these pics.

Quiet muffler system

The pipes and cans are installed in a "tunnel" built into the motor box section. Essentially,  the motor box section is divided into an upper half and a lower half.  The lower half becomes the "tunnel" which accommodates the pipes and cans.  This tunnel also provides good airflow past the cans for cooling.

The pics above and below show how the motor box is divided into and upper half and a lower half.  A longeron is glued to the inside of each motor box wall.  The sub floor is glued to the longeron.

The stainless steel pipes come in sections  You cut them to size and custom fabricate them to your application.  They are easily  brazed. Dave Johnson at Desert Aircraft recommended for DA-150 that the length should be 12" from exhaust port to the can inlet.

A  "cradle system" is used to mount and secure the cans inside the tunnel.
This system has proven to be virtually problem free. It hold the cans very securely in the tunnel and prevents them from getting loose and moving around.
